A Woodlands Park Hotel Wedding – Oxshott
Keri and Luke are the sweetest couple. Having met in school, they truly are childhood sweethearts; they even had the song ‘Finally’ as the entrance to their reception! You can see from their interactions and the way family members talk about them that they truly are soulmates and best friends and that’s why even on a dark and rainy day they were able to turn their wedding into a warm, fun and joyful day.
As we made our way to the bridal preparation that morning we had rain the whole way. We hoped and prayed that we would get a few breaks in the heavy, black clouds and Mother Nature did not disappoint! Just as Keri was about to leave for the wedding ceremony, the blue skies came out just long enough for her to get into the church; then the heavens opened once more.
As a wedding photographer, my heart sank when I saw the pouring rain whilst Keri and Luke were saying their vows. All manner of things were running through my head. Where will we do the group photo? Can we do the confetti shot? Will the ground be wet and ruin Keri’s beautiful dress? I need not have worried as Mother Nature was once again on our side. As we stepped outside, friends and family threw their confetti, the ground was as dry as a bone and the sun was shining. I have never seen weather like it and the rest of the day followed much the same – sunshine followed by heavy showers. But this couple just rolled with the punches, running outside when it was dry enough to capture some fantastic portraits. Keri did not once complain about her dress or the wet grass but instead concentrated on getting beautiful photos that both them and their families can treasure forever. That’s my kind of bride!
Here are some of my favourites from their day.
